Atkins sponsored “Identity management across the public sector” event.
“Who did you say you were? Enhancing security and building trust” Thursday,
31 May 2007 at Inmarsat Conference Centre, London.
Atkins has extensive experience of information and identity management issues
within Government and has been at the forefront of initiatives to provide
joined up citizen services and to help realise the strategic vision of transformational
government.
A particular focus of this capability is our expertise and experience in
information quality management, including matching and identity resolution.
Our experience
spans national, regional and local initiatives with projects such as ContactPoint, ONS Citizen Information Project and Pan London Schools
e-Admissions
Project and is equally applicable to bulk or on-line data matching scenarios.
We have unrivalled insight into the opportunities and understanding of public
sector information issues and this has lead us to develop an holistic approach
based in the following core expertise;
Business understanding:
- Objectives and business case; understanding how information sharing contributes to the objectives of the enterprise and how it is incorporated into a business case.
- Context and process; understanding the scope of the data to be shared and how it will be used is critical to the success of any information sharing project.
- Policy and Legal; understanding what can and can’t be shared as well as which legal gateways are necessary and which aren’t.
Relationships:
- Central Government; experience has allowed us to build relationships with many key Departments involved in information sharing.
- Regional Government; we also have excellent relationships with regional government bodies to ensure the broadest available scope of information sharing.
- Local Government; through many of our projects we have built strong relationships with many trailblazer authorities and metropolitan boroughs.
- Software vendors; we have worked with software vendors to develop data matching techniques and have a detailed understanding of the relative merits of various offerings.
- Stakeholder engagement; Cultural issues are the single most important aspect of a data sharing project and it is critical to ensure stakeholders are pro-actively managed.
- Understanding of wider initiatives; involvement in a number of working groups and committees investigating information sharing.
Proven capability:
- Tools and Techniques; our experience has allowed us to develop tools and techniques to realise the benefits, assess the risks and ensure the success our clients’ information sharing aspirations these include;
- The Atkins Data Quality Framework; a comprehensive, robust and objective approach to assessing the quality of data.
- Atkins hybrid matching algorithm; this optimises a range of techniques, bringing together exact and fuzzy matching to provide a high level of confirmed matches.
- Information Quality; understanding how information quality can be improved.
- Data Matching; unique experience in matching national and local government datasets.
- Technical Architecture; design of large scale information sharing projects.
- Implementation; award winning information sharing projects.
